Whether you bought a ready-made Green Wall, or DIY Kit, it’s time to learn how to fix it to the wall!
First of all, it is important to have taken the measurements well, always keeping them a few mm down. In this way you avoid potential cuts and waste of time and material, as well as the risk of ruining the preserved green. If there remains a small uncovered space, you can fill it with the spare material that is left over by the processing, or with that included in the supply of the ready-made panels.
To fix a Green Wall, you can choose to use silicone and double-sided tape, or wall/plasterboard dowels with a diameter of 6 mm.
Using the double-sided tape and silicone is faster to assemble them, but you will not be able to disassemble them, except by breaking the panels. It takes a little longer if you use the dowels, but in the future it will be possible to disassemble the panels without breaking them.
Assembly should always be done from the bottom up, following the position you find on the installation template. If you have made them yourself, it is important that when you designed the panels, you have marked on the back where to place them later.
ASSEMBLY WITH DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE AND SILICONE
Put small strips of double-sided tape (to grip until the silicone dries) on the panels: in the 4 corners and at the centre. Apply silicone in small doses in several spots. Then, paying attention, place the panel against the wall, pressing for about a minute evenly over the entire surface. Repeat the operation with all the panels until you have completed the wall.
Let the silicone dry for at least a couple of hours. Only at this point go and see if there are spaces not covered and/or points to be fixed. Take the spare material and with transparent neutral silicone place the greenery in the uncovered points.
ASSEMBLY WITH DOWELS
First of all, test and take measurements. When you have decided the correct position, proceed to fixing by drilling the panel where you will put the screws. After drilling the panel also drill the wall. Insert the dowel into the wall and screw the screws from above to the panel. Once the Wall is screwed and fixed, take a little transparent neutral silicone and put it on top of the screws with some Flat Moss, Lichen or Polemoss, depending on what you have used. This way you will no longer see the screws. For finishing, repeat the same steps as above.
At this point the Wall is completed!
Remember that you do not have to do any maintenance, except for a little dusting with Down Jacket/Swiffer very rarely.
NB. DO NOT WET WITH WATER, NOT EVEN SPRAY. DO NOT SPRAY ANY KIND OF ESSENCES, EVEN IF NATURAL. DO NOT PLACE WARM HEADLIGHTS LESS THAN 1 M AWAY.
Now you just have to enjoy the result!
